Transition style- Rod set
Transition May 2009- July 2010: I was still going to my regular beautician and she helped me through my transition. She would do roller sets, rod sets, and mini twists. I really didn’t have a grasp on my hair and it was really tough for me to do any styles on my own. I’m normally pretty DIY with my hair but working with those two textures frustrated the MESS out of me! My hair was still pretty short because again I was growing out of a short cut so I didn’t feel the need to BC. She just snipped my ends when needed. I was able to grow all of the relaxer out in 15 months.
It's AWE natural now!
Natural style- chunky braid out
So here we are. I have been fully natural for 13 months. And I am SO IN LOVE with my hair! I wear my AFRO, twists/twist outs and, braids/braid outs proudly. In October 2010 (4 months of being natural) I had my hair straightened for family pictures. My hair touched the top of my back and I have never had that before. I was so excited! I said I would never return to a relaxer. After just 4 months my hair was thicker, fuller, and longer than ever before. At this point I’m pretty self sufficient and I haven’t been to the salon since I had my hair straightened. Since you are all caught up on my 1st year of natural life I will start my blog here………!!!
